Bringing Aviation History to Life
The Museum of Flight AR Experience is a mixed reality (MR) application prototype developed for the Meta Quest 3, designed to revolutionize visitor engagement. This project was conceived as an interactive exhibit that blends virtual content with the real-world environment of the museum's Great Gallery. The experience begins with a compelling, minute-long audio narrative that guides the user through the evolution of flight, bringing history to life by overlaying holographic aircraft onto the physical museum space. The goal is to provide a new way for museum visitors to interact with and understand aviation history beyond a static display.

Built using Unity and the Meta XR SDK, the application showcases several key features, including seamless MR integration that makes virtual objects feel present in the real world. The experience is enhanced with spatial audio, with sounds that are anchored to the holographic planes, and dynamic holographic visuals that give the models a futuristic feel. The prototype culminates in an interactive segment where the user can take control of a virtual jet, demonstrating a novel form of hands-on learning. The entire project serves as a compelling proof-of-concept for how immersive technologies can transform cultural and educational institutions.
